Zameera announces commitments to sustainability, conservation, and biodiversity across its luxury experiences
Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 6 January 2026
Zameera, the curated luxury experiences platform built in Dubai, has introduced a company wide Sustainability, Conservation and Biodiversity Policy that places wildlife ethics, community respect and climate impact at the core of its marketplace.
The policy applies both to Zameera’s internal operations and to every supplier listed on the platform. It sets minimum standards for environmental care, animal welfare, local community impact and transparency, while favouring experiences that actively support conservation and cultural preservation.
“Exceptional travel should never come at the expense of the places, wildlife and communities that make it possible,” said Sebastian Taskila, Chief Executive Officer of Zameera. “Our goal is simple. If it is on Zameera, it should be something you can book with confidence, knowing that standards are respected and that many partners go further and create a positive impact.”
The policy is built around 2 principles. First, do no harm. Second, deliver a net positive contribution wherever possible. In practice, this means Zameera will not promote experiences that damage ecosystems, exploit animals, disrespect local communities or accelerate climate impact, and will actively prefer suppliers who contribute to protection, restoration and community benefit.
Clear standards for wildlife, animals and communities
Under the new framework, Zameera will prioritise experiences that respect wildlife, habitats and protected areas, with minimal disturbance and strong guiding standards. “The destinations we travel to are not just backdrops, they are living environments and real communities,” said Oliver Ikaheimonen, Chief Operating Officer at Zameera. “Our responsibility is to protect that, and to work with luxury suppliers, brands and experiences who do the same.” Experiences that involve wildlife harassment, forced contact, baiting or feeding are excluded from the platform.
For animal welfare, Zameera will not host experiences that depend on cruelty, coercion or poor conditions, even if they are legal locally. Suppliers must follow humane care standards for any domestic animals involved in an experience and are encouraged to design activities around observation, education and natural behaviour rather than performance.
The policy also places local communities and cultural heritage at the centre of curation. Zameera will prioritise experiences that benefit local people, operate with appropriate permissions and respect cultural norms and sacred sites. Preference is given to locally owned and locally staffed operators when quality and safety standards are met.
Climate and operational standards
On climate, Zameera will reduce emissions in its own operations through practical decisions in technology, procurement and essential travel. On the supply side, the platform will favour operators that manage logistics efficiently and protect climate critical landscapes such as reefs, forests and desert ecosystems.
To be listed on Zameera, all suppliers must meet baseline requirements that cover legal compliance, environmental care, wildlife and habitat protection, animal welfare, community respect and transparent guest information. These standards are a condition for participation and will be strengthened over time as regulations and best practices evolve.
Review, enforcement and net positive ambition
Zameera’s approach includes pre listing reviews, risk based audits, customer feedback monitoring and clear escalation pathways where issues arise. The company may require remedial action within defined timeframes or remove listings immediately in serious cases, such as evidence of animal abuse, environmental damage or cultural disrespect.
Beyond minimum standards, Zameera will promote suppliers that fund or deliver conservation outcomes, community led stewardship and restoration efforts. The company plans to introduce playbooks and practical tools for operators in sensitive environments, and will partner with specialist organisations to refine verification and raise performance across the marketplace.
“Luxury travel is moving toward depth, privacy and meaning,” Taskila added. “For us, that also means responsibility. If we want travellers to trust Zameera with their most important trips, we have to be clear about what we stand for and be willing to say no to experiences that are not aligned with that.”
The Sustainability, Conservation and Biodiversity Policy will be reviewed at least once per year as the marketplace expands into new destinations and categories. Guests and partners can raise concerns about any experience listed on Zameera through the company’s support channels, where reports are treated as a high priority.
